Join us on Saturday, November 5th for a Guy Fawkes celebration and the release of Croatan, our fall cider with NC sweet potatoes and molasses! Every November 5th the British commemorate the foiled Gunpowder Plot of 1605, in which Guy Fawkes and other English Catholics planned to assassinate Protestant King James I and replace him with a Catholic head of state. They light large bonfires and burn Guy Fawkes in effigy to celebrate the failed plot and survival of their King. We bring this celebration stateside with a more modest fire pit, and we encourage you to bring your own tiny effigy of Guy Fawkes or perhaps a modern-day politician (or anyone you’d like). We’ll burn effigies, make s'mores, and drink Croatan (we’ll also have non-alcoholic fresh apple juice and 9 other cider/meads). English-inspired bonfire day food will be available, for which we will ask a small donation for Friends to Ferals, with whom we work closely to the feral cats that live near the Ciderworks Guy Fawkes masks and costumes are also welcome.
